I remember David the most for his laugh and his smile. The first time I met him in 2002 I remember it and the last time I saw him the night before he was leaving for Ohio I still feel it. He just glowed. We were at an event called prom and he came by to drop something off and all of us ran out to see him. I remember I sprinted yelling at Herbert, “David’s here”. And I remember the hug we shared, I will carry that feeling with me always. It was long heart felt hug that I am not sure that I have ever received. Maybe I have, but this one stuck with me right after it happened till now. It was comforting. And that is how David was very comforting, very sweet.
Roller skating:

When I choose roller skating for my bachelorette I didn’t know that not only had Herbert never been on skates, but he had also never been on anything that rolled. On our way to the rink Herbert kept on saying I am not skating. I said please everyone is expecting you to skate. Your guy friends and all of my friends. When I went to get my skates there was Herbert sitting there without skates looking not so happy. Well, I noticed David for sure encourage him to skate. The next thing I knew I turned around and there Herbert was trying to stand up in his skates. I tried to help him out, but you know men, they always want to do things themselves not be helped by their girls. The next thing I knew there he was being helped by a friend of mine and shortly after he fell on top of her David took over. He was holding Herbert’s hand I think. Really what guy would do this for a friend? He didn’t even know Herbert that well. They were practicing in the beginner’s area where there is a little track and bars to hold onto because Herbert was falling all over the place. I love this picture. David was always there to lend a hand. And I believe in heaven he will be lending hands to us on earth and to those in heaven. It was a gift that he had and he used it.
My wedding:
Shanin was not sure that they would make it because David might have had to leave for surgery. They made it though. August 20, 2006 at Lakeside Gardens. I just remember David’s face, he looked so happy. And when I headed over to their table we took this picture. I am so happy to have had the chance to get to know David even though our meeting did not happen until much later than I wished. I had the opportunity to meet an amazing guy and I would not give up that time for the world.
